Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of farmers' group management in rice cultivation based on local wisdom in Pattojo Village, Lilirilaja Sub-district, Soppeng Regency. The main focus of this research is to determine the extent to which management functions such as planning, organizing, implementation, and supervision are applied within the farmers' group, and how traditional values such as mappadendang and mangeppi are still practiced and influence agricultural success. The research method used is descriptive quantitative, with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, and documentation involving 57 respondents from the Tobosi Farmers Group selected purposively. The results show that the effectiveness of management is considered moderately effective, with the majority of respondents reporting increased rice production and improved farmer welfare. Local traditions are maintained and viewed as having a positive impact on social harmony and agricultural outcomes. However, challenges remain, including limited managerial training, fluctuating rice prices, and restricted access to data and markets. This study recommends enhancing managerial training and strengthening inter-sector collaboration to improve the capacity of farmers' groups in supporting sustainable agriculture based on local wisdom.
