PENGARUH BIAYA TRANSPORTASI DAN HARGA JUAL TERHADAP KEPUTUSAN PETANI MENANAM JAGUNG DI DESA OPO KECAMATAN AJANGALE

Abstract

This study examines the influence of transportation costs and selling prices on farmers’ decisions to cultivate corn in Opo Village, Ajangale District, Bone Regency. Corn is one of the strategic agricultural commodities that contributes significantly to food security and farmers’ income. However, high transportation costs and unstable selling prices often affect farmers’ interest in maintaining and developing corn farming activities. Therefore, this research aims to analyze the partial and simultaneous effects of transportation costs and selling prices on farmers’ decisions to cultivate corn. The study was conducted from January to March 2026 using a quantitative approach. The population consisted of 75 corn farmers, and all respondents were selected using the total sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires, interviews, and observations, then analyzed using descriptive statistics and multiple linear regression analysis with the assistance of SPSS software. The results showed that transportation costs had a significant effect on farmers’ decisions to cultivate corn. Selling prices also significantly influenced farmers’ decisions. Simultaneously, transportation costs and selling prices had a significant influence on farmers’ decisions to continue corn farming activities. Lower transportation costs and higher selling prices encouraged farmers to maintain and increase corn production. In conclusion, improving transportation infrastructure and stabilizing corn selling prices are essential to support the sustainability of corn farming and improve farmers’ welfare in rural areas.
