Abstract

Hydroponic systems offer an innovative solution for efficient crop cultivation in limited land areas. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of various concentrations of liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) made from gamal leaves on the growth and productivity of mustard plants (Brassica juncea L.) using a hydroponic system. The experiment was conducted in Allamungeng Patue Village, Bone Regency, using a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with four treatments: G0 (no LOF), G1 (40 ml/L), G2 (80 ml/L), and G3 (120 ml/L), each replicated four times. Observed parameters included plant height, number of leaves, leaf width, and fresh weight. The results indicated that the G3 treatment produced the best outcomes with a plant height of 28.72 cm, 11.69 leaves, a leaf width of 7.44 cm, and a fresh weight of 25.06 grams. Application of gamal leaf LOF significantly enhanced mustard plant growth and yield compared to the control (G0). The nutrient contents in the LOF, such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, are believed to play a crucial role in supporting plant development. Thus, gamal leaf LOF has the potential to serve as an alternative to chemical fertilizers in hydroponic mustard cultivation.
