Abstract

The Echinodermata phylum is an important part of marine biodiversity and plays an important role in operating ecosystems. In addition, it is part of the food chain.. This research was conducted at Lasonrai Beach, Awerange Village, Barru Regency. The methods used are the cruise method and the quadrat transect method. The roaming method is carried out by collecting data along 100 m. Next, data collection using the quadratic transect method was carried out by drawing a 60m transect line and placing a quadratic plot in a zig-zag manner next to the transect line. There were 3 plots observed measuring 1m x 1m with a plot distance of 20 m. Determining the distance of each station was 100 m from the first transect line and the other transect lines. The results of research at Lasonrai Beach, Awerange Village, New Regency, obtained Echinodermata from the Ophiuroidea class, which consists of 4 types, namely the Ophiomastix annulosa species, the Ophiocoma erinaceus species, the Ophiocoma scolopendrina species and the Ophioplocus Imbricatus species. Based on data analysis using the quadratic transect method, it was obtained: The Echinodermata diversity index at Lasonrai Beach, Awerange Village is in the low category, namely -1.22958. The species with the highest density value is Ophiocoma erinaceus, while the results of the relative abundance analysis show that the value of the Ophiocoma erinaceus species is 40% in the high category. The results of this study can serve as a resource for contextual biology learning. As a learning resource, the activity provides students with learning experiences through direct observation in the natural environment. Students can grasp concepts regarding the classification of living organisms, adaptation, and the role of Echinoderms in marine ecosystems, while simultaneously developing a scientific mindset, curiosity, and a sense of responsibility for coastal environmental conservation
