Abstract

This research is a qualitative research using a qualitative descriptive approach, with the aim of studying the process of making cold powder (bedda pica) as a traditional herbal remedy and analyzing and describing ethnoscience studies with a local wisdom approach to be used as a source for learning biology. This research was conducted in Empagae, Assorajang Village, Tanasitolo District, Wajo Regency. Informants were 7 people, consisting of 2 cold powder makers (bedda pica), 4 villagers who use cold powder (bedda pica), and 1 healer. The data used in this study are two types, namely primary data and secondary data. Primary data comes from the results of interviews and direct observations at the research location while secondary data comes from literature reviews. Data collection techniques used are observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis used is data collection and data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions/verification. The research results obtained are that cold powder (bedda pica) has been used by the community for a long time as a traditional medicine that has several benefits and is certainly one of the local wisdoms and has survived until now where the main ingredients for making it come from plants in the surrounding area, ethnoscience studies in the process of making cold powder (bedda pica) can be used as a source for learning biology.
